Many young Roma have never completed their basic schooling and thus have no chance to learn a craft. With the help of our training workshop we want to give them this chance and enable them to provide for themselves and their families independently in the future.
We have renovated an old barn and extended it into a workshop. The first apprentices learn to appear at the workplace daily and punctually, and to carry out their tasks accurately. They manufacture simple workpieces such as benches and shelves for our social centres and for the families. During the renovation of our buildings and Romani huts, they learn further manual skills.
The young people also gain basic knowledge of reading, writing, arithmetic and measurement – skills urgently needed for their work.
